A selection of recent outcomes for our clients. Names and identifying details have been changed to protect client confidentiality.
Commercial Dispute
$4.2M contract dispute resolved in 6 weeks
A construction company faced a claim from a former partner alleging breach of a joint venture agreement. We analysed the contract, identified procedural irregularities in the opposing claim, and negotiated a full resolution before the matter reached court — saving our client years of litigation.
Outcome: Matter resolved. Client's position fully protected.
Family Law
Property settlement preserving $1.8M family home
In a complex separation involving a blended family and business assets, we negotiated a property settlement that allowed our client to retain the family home and avoid the forced sale that had been threatened. Children's arrangements were agreed without court proceedings.
Outcome: Settlement reached. Court avoided.
Criminal Defence
Serious assault charges withdrawn at Local Court
Our client was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a disputed altercation. We obtained CCTV footage, gathered witness statements and presented evidence to the prosecution demonstrating inconsistencies in the complainant's account. Charges were withdrawn.
Outcome: All charges withdrawn. No conviction recorded.
Wills & Estates
Contested estate — $2.3M successfully defended
A client sought to challenge a parent's will that had been altered in the final months of life, alleging undue influence by a sibling. We obtained medical records and expert evidence on testamentary capacity and successfully defended the estate in the NSW Supreme Court.
Outcome: Original will upheld. Estate protected.
Property
Off-the-plan contract rescinded — full deposit returned
A purchaser discovered significant variations between the approved plan and the as-built apartment three weeks before settlement. We identified grounds for rescission under the relevant sunset clause provisions and successfully recovered the full $128,000 deposit.
Outcome: Full deposit recovered. Contract rescinded.
Employment
Unfair dismissal — $85,000 compensation awarded
A senior manager was dismissed without cause after 11 years of service. We filed an unfair dismissal claim and demonstrated that the employer had failed to follow its own performance management processes. The Fair Work Commission awarded maximum compensation.
Outcome: $85,000 compensation + costs.
